Special thanks to the Brinkerhoff Family Charitable Foundation (Geraldine Brinkerhoff, Laura Palmer, Robert Brinkerhoff Jr., and Dr. John Brinkerhoff) for the generous donation of $79,667.00 in April, 2010.
We would also like to thank the Alexander Rothney (Sandy) Cross Estate Fund at The Calgary Foundation for their generous donation of $20,000.00 in March, 2010.
Cosmetic upgrades are now being done at the Victory Manor. Thank-you to Tri-Jay Carpets for the donation of carpet and lino for hallways, bathrooms, stairs and rooms.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Rotary Club of Calgary (Heritage Park Chapter) we are now looking at doing a full renovation of two small bathrooms within the building. We also want to thank the Rotary Club for providing an Easter dinner for all of the residents of the building.
We have an ongoing project of replacing the beds in each room of the Victory Manor. Many of the tenants have had to sleep on beds that have been in the most deplorable condition.
Thanks to two donations from Sleep Country Canada, we have now been able to replace twenty-five of the fifty beds in the building. We will continue to work toward replacing the remaining twenty-five beds throughout the year. A donation of $250.00 for our "adopt-a-bed" program will allow us to purchase another bed and continue to replace the remaining twenty-five that are old and worn out. Contact us today if you would like to get involved.
The renovation of the Heritage Room at the Victory Manor is now complete. New windows have now been installed and we have just received the new doors and trims which were donated by Gunther's Building Centre.
Hardwood flooring was donated by Tri-Jay Carpets and new wiring donated and installed by Enerpro Electrical Services.
Many individuals were involved in the gutting of the old lathe and plaster and the installation of new insulation and drywall along with painting. Much of this material was generously donated by Big Dog Lumber and Davidson Enman Building Centre. Skyline Structures provided the pillars.
Our offices in the basement are finished and we are now completely moved in. It is great to be onsite with offices in the building. It is already making a difference by having a greater presence during the daytime.
Special thanks to everyone who helped get the job done.
